Oregon Tech’s Center for Excellence in Engineering and Technology (CEET) is the university’s hub for training the region’s engineering workforce. The 70,000 square foot building combines interactive classrooms, teaching labs, a maker space, and offices. Open ceilings and flexible infrastructure let the spaces change as teaching methods evolve. Site work added a new campus entry, an extension of the campus pedestrian corridor to the main entrance, new parking, and a gathering space.

The Center for Excellence in Engineering and Technology is 100% geothermally heated. The building taps the geothermal resource below Klamath Falls: volcanically heated groundwater is pumped through plate heat exchangers to heat the building, then routed through tubing in the commons floor for radiant heat, through domestic water tanks for sink hot water, and through tubes in the sidewalks to melt snow. Cooled water is returned to the ground. Interface designed the MEP systems, commissioned the building, and led energy analysis toward Oregon Tech's LEED Silver goal, working from the code baseline, the project's key energy variables, and LEED best practices. The building also ties into the campus's existing utility systems.
