We’re proud to share that University of California, Riverside – North District Phase 2 has been recognized with a CMAA Southern California Chapter Project Achievement Award in the Education Over $50M category.
Presented annually at the CMAA SoCal Project Achievement Awards Gala, the program honors innovative and impactful projects delivered within Southern California that exemplify excellence in construction and program management. This year’s awards celebrate projects that tell meaningful stories and North District Phase 2 stands out as a model for collaboration, innovation, and student-centered design.
North District Phase 2 is a joint initiative between UC Riverside (UCR) and Riverside Community College District (RCCD) created to address the growing demand for affordable, on-campus housing. The project includes three new student housing buildings totaling approximately 400,000+ GSF, delivering more than 1,500 beds across 400+ apartment-style units, along with extensive site amenities.
Key elements of the development include:
- New student housing for undergraduate and graduate students
- A central park, recreation fields, and outdoor courtyards
- Associated parking and supporting site infrastructure
- 652 beds reserved at below-market rents for UCR and RCCD students
A first-of-its-kind partnership, the community integrates community college and university students living side by side, fostering a more inclusive and connected campus environment. With modern amenities, shared open space, and a focus on affordability and student wellbeing, North District Phase 2 represents a significant investment in student success.
The project will be formally recognized at the CMAA SoCal Annual Awards Gala on May 27 in Los Angeles, celebrating projects that serve as pinnacles of excellence and innovation within the industry.
