Ninebark Apartments

Ninebark is all-electric. Interface's energy strategy starts in the units: every apartment has its own energy recovery ventilator, which supplies continuous fresh air while recovering heat from the exhaust air, and heat pumps provide the heating. Solar panels mounted over the covered parking generate power on site without taking up roof or ground space. The all-electric approach supported Killian Pacific's goal of carbon neutrality, and the Riverside Retreat amenity building was designed to target net zero ready performance. The bigger design challenge was integrating MEP systems into the architecture. Holst's design uses clean façades and sustainable, regionally sourced materials, so Interface integrated the systems to keep penetrations through the façade nearly invisible. The development earned Fitwel certification for resident health and Salmon-Safe certification for protecting local water quality. Ninebark is part of the Port of Camas-Washougal's Parker's Landing master plan, which aims to bring new residents and businesses to the waterfront while keeping housing affordable for people who already live in the area.
