Smart Infrastructure: Connecting Lighting, Power & HVAC Through IoT
May 19, 2026
What happens when lighting, power, and HVAC finally speak the same language?
Interface Engineering invites you to attend the second installment of our 2026 High Performance Buildings Educational Series:
Smart Infrastructure: Connecting Lighting, Power & HVAC Through IoT
This course explores how the Internet of Things (IoT) is transforming modern building systems by integrating lighting, electrical, and mechanical (HVAC) systems into cohesive, responsive infrastructure. Participants will examine how smart sensors, connected devices, and data analytics enable real-time monitoring, enhance building performance, and improve energy efficiency at both the system and individual space level.
Led by Kristina Santi, LC, Assoc. IALD and Michael Flemming, PE, LEED AP BD+C, CxA, CEM, the session will cover communication protocols, system interoperability, cybersecurity considerations, and practical implementation strategies for smart building environments.
Attendees will gain a comprehensive understanding of how IoT-enabled systems transform traditional building infrastructure into intelligent, adaptive environments. The course also highlights how integrated controls support occupant comfort, improve indoor environmental quality, and enhance system reliability through proactive monitoring and maintenance.
By the end of the session, participants will be equipped to apply IoT strategies that advance energy efficiency, operational resilience, and high-performance building outcomes, supporting health, safety, and welfare for occupants and the broader community.
